Through user-centered research and iterative design process, I develop solutions that enable people to enhance their lives and work with technology. I believe that good user experience design begins with gaining an understanding of the user, their needs, and how they naturally operate. From that base knowledge of the user, I build iterations of prototypes to close in on a solution that meets both business goals and user needs.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"about-me-section\">\n<h3 class=\"resume-h2\">Why do I do it?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"resume-body\">I believe that software has the power to make society more equitable. And I believe that as a designer, it is my duty to make sure that users of all kinds are spoken for in the products I design. While I am interested in applying design methods to solve problems of all kinds, I\u2019m particularly interested in ways software can be better designed to meet the needs of minority student populations in K-12 education.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"about-me-section\">\n<h3 class=\"resume-h2\">Where did I come from?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"resume-body\">I grew up in sunny Inglewood, California: the City of Champions. I earned a Bachelor\u2019s degree in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scs.howard.edu\/\">Systems and Computer Science from Howard University<\/a> in Washington, DC. After that, I moved to Pittsburgh, PA to earn a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hcii.cmu.edu\">Master\u2019s of<\/a> Human-Computer Interaction at Carnegie Mellon University. After grad school, I moved to the bay area to start my career. Currently, I am a Senior UX designer at Turnitin, Inc. in Oakland, CA.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"What do I do? I solve problems by applying design methodologies.
