What do I do?

I solve problems by applying design methodologies. Through user-centered research and iterative design process, I develop solutions that enable people to enhance their lives and work with technology. I believe that good user experience design begins with gaining an understanding of the user, their needs, and how they naturally operate. From that base knowledge of the user, I build iterations of prototypes to close in on a solution that meets both business goals and user needs.

Why do I do it?

I believe that software has the power to make society more equitable. And I believe that as a designer, it is my duty to make sure that users of all kinds are spoken for in the products I design. While I am interested in applying design methods to solve problems of all kinds, I’m particularly interested in ways software can be better designed to meet the needs of minority student populations in K-12 education.

Where did I come from?

I grew up in sunny Inglewood, California: the City of Champions. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Systems and Computer Science from Howard University in Washington, DC. After that, I moved to Pittsburgh, PA to earn a Master’s of Human-Computer Interaction at Carnegie Mellon University. After grad school, I moved to the bay area to start my career. Currently, I am a Senior UX designer at Turnitin, Inc. in Oakland, CA.
